EASAC: Forest bioenergy update: BECCS and its role in integrated assessment models

Forest biomass continues to be the main source of renewable electricity in Europe. Despite evidence to support current use
mitigating climate change and limiting global warming, not enough ambitious actions have been undertaken.
The goals of the Paris Agreement envisage a very large increase in the use of bioenergy, a significant part of which may come
from forests - either directly through logging or indirectly by replacing forests with energy crops.

This report provides an overview of the use of biomass and gives recommendations for the use of forest biomass
